Elder Citizen Protection Services Inc.
,0.■®p p i n
SM
0 ff 0a
n i co r.%
1540 Barton Road, #171 Redlands, CA 92373 (909)799-7327 FAX (909) 799-1777
ECPS Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Donations are welcome. IRS Tax IDA 33-0778011
Summary
Elder Citizen Protection Services Inc. is the parent company of Shoppin' 4 Seniors
which is the "ONLY" nonprofit organization that services the homebound
individuals; senior citizens and disabled adults in San Bernardino and Riverside
Counties. The mission of Elder Citizen Protection Services Inc. is to deliver a
coordinated system of home -delivered groceries to meet the nutritional needsof
homebound individuals, senior citizens and disabled adults, with the attempts to
moderate the negative impact of isolation and poverty. The service, implemented by
a well-trained staff, provides a elder development program giving these homebound
individuals, seniors and disabled adults needed intervention, supporting the
development of self-confidence and high self-esteem, providing a basic, thorough
foundation for the transition from mature adult to senior citizen to frail elder.
Community empowerment and self-determination have been and always will be
strong components of this service. This past June of 1998, Shoppin' 4 Seniors formed
an alliance with the largest employer in the Inland Empire, Stater Bros. Markets (see
letters of support attached). If you go into any Stater Bros. Market in the inland
Empire you will see a poster size advertisement of our service in the window (see
flyer attached).
Recognizing that the target population of homebound individuals, senior citizens and
disabled adults need more than low-income housing and bus rides to the doctor's
office, Elder Citizen Protection Services Inc. is proposing to begin/expand a grocery
shopping service with skilled staff addressing the nutritional needs of the individuals
served. The purpose of this service is to ensure that homebound individuals, frail
elders and disabled adults receive the nutrition (groceries) they need to maintain their
independence and remain in their own home.
Costly institutionalization or, just not eating at all, are about the only alternatives to
living at home for most of the individuals served by Elder Citizen Protection Services
Inc. Few individuals have a desire to move into a convalescent home and will
struggle to maintain their independence and dignity in their own home. With
Pagel of 2 -
