HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE WORKER III IN <br />THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, BUILDING MAINTENANCE <br />DIVISION, PRIOR TO VACANCY. <br />DATE: OCTOBER 20, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: Currently there are no vacancies; this would establish an eligibility list for future <br />vacancies. Attached is the job description for the classification; salary range is $2,195.00 to <br />$2,669.00 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: One (1) Maintenance Worker III position in the Building Maintenance <br />Division will become vacant due to a pending retirement tentatively scheduled for January 1, <br />2000. The candidate being referred for Council ratification will meet all the requirements as <br />specified in the job description. The recruitment of the position would enable the Building <br />Maintenance Division to continue to provide services uninterrupted. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is an approved internal services funded position in the fiscal year <br />1999-2000 budget; funded as follows: Account No. 605-6150-6159-1010 (salary miscellaneous) <br />and Account No. 605-6150-61599--1100 (salary related benefits). <br />Jo4hC.;utto4nPubIiiWeorks Director <br />Expected Fill Date: December 20, 1999 <br />RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council ratifies the employee appointment to the full-time <br />position of Maintenance Worker III in the Public Works Department, Building Maintenance <br />Division. <br />Attachments: Job Description <br />Approval for recruitment prior to vacancy <br />Report prepared by Randy Rivera, Assistant Public Works Director <br />Item #5 <br />
