A request <br />to install a stop sign on the north leg has been presented to the Traffic Safety <br />Committee. The accident history for this intersection shows 1 accident for the last two <br />years. The State of California Traffic Manual Policy for the installation of multi -way stop <br />signs specifies an accident history of five accidents of the type correctable by a stop <br />sign in one year. Traffic volume data was not available. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This recommendation is based upon the following concern: <br />• The proximity of this intersection to the playground at Veterans Park. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The cost of the installation of 1 sign is fifty dollars, ($50.00) from account number 249- <br />6900-6910--2350. <br />Jol7r(C. Hutton, Public Works Director <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />If Council concurs, staff recommends adoption of the attached resolution amending <br />Resolution No. 2119 to include additional through streets and stop intersections and <br />authorize the installation of stop signs on the north and south legs of the intersection of <br />10th Street and "O" Street. It is also recommended that, should the Council authorize <br />this action, 48 inch signs be installed, and a Police Officer be assigned to monitor this <br />intersection during the period of time required for the public to become accustomed to <br />this modification <br />JCH/ <br />Page 1 <br />Attachments: Item #10 <br />
