CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR'� <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR VARIOUS VEHICLES FOR THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT <br />TO ADVANTAGE FORD IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,369.90, L. J. SNOW FORD <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,077.60, AND WONDRIES CHEVROLET IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $18,517.92. <br />DATE: August 23, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Substation Division has requirements for a 4-wheel drive utility vehicle and two compact pick- <br />up trucks to replace three vehicles that have outgrown their cost effectiveness. The Water Division has a <br />requirement for a mini van to be used by the Water Quality Technician. All four vehicles are budgeted for <br />Fiscal Year 99-00. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Department solicited sealed bids for this requirement on July 27, 1999. Bid packages were <br />mailed to eighteen qualified vendors. Bid opening was held at 2:00 p.m., August 23, 1999, at the <br />Corporate Yard Conference Room. Twelve bids were received and evaluated. <br />A Bid Analysis is attached showing the price and delivery dates quoted by each vendor. The low bidder <br />on the mini van did not meet all specifications required. The recommended vendor's price is underlined <br />for each vehicle. The totai of bid award is listed at the bottom for each recommended vendor. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The City Council approved funds for these vehicles in the FY99-00 budget. . <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends award of bid for one 4x4 sport utility vehicle to Advantage Ford in the amount of <br />$23,369.90, two (2) compact pick-up trucks to L.J.
