CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 7, 1999 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR 8r CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CITY MANAGERIy� FROM: AL HOLLIMAN, FINANCE DIRECTOR SUBJECT: AWARD A CONTRACT TO FURNISH AND INSTALL WORKSTATIONS FOR THE LIBRARY TECHNICAL SERVICES DEPT. TO SYSTEMS SOURCE INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,472.07 FUNDED BY STATE LIBRARY GRANT DATE: AUGUST 24, 1999 BACKGROUND The Library has an approved budget to redesign the work area for their Technical Services Processing Division. This division is responsible for processing new books, videocassettes and other library materials, as well as the on-line cataloging and library circulation control systems. The funds have been approved for this project from the State Library Grant. DISC USSIONIANALYSIS On July 28, Purchasing solicited proposals for the design and installation of five workstations and an L- shaped work counter. The closing date for receipt of proposals was 2:30 p.m., August 19, 1999. Four proposals were received and evaluated. A proposal analysis is attached for your review. Source West of Los Angeles was the lowest priced proposal at $12,305.05, however, they did not submit the required documentation to properly evaluate their proposal. Systems Source Inc. of Colton was the second lowest proposal at $14,472.07. Their proposal addressed the scope of the work and included all the required documentation. Staff is recommending award to Systems Source Inc. of Colton. ALTERNATIVES ►I= FINANCIAL IMPACT The Library is funding this project from the State Library Grant Fund. The funds were budgeted in the fiscal year 98-99 budget. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT None RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends Council award a contract for workstations for the Library to Systems Source Inc. in the amount of $14,472.07. Report prepared by Mary J.
