Heusterberg, Police Captain <br />SUBJECT: <br />'Code Enforcement Workshop II <br />DATE: <br />February 3, 2000 <br />Background <br />On October 26, 1999, the police department conducted a workshop addressing the direction that <br />we were taking the recently acquired code enforcement unit and our community -policing <br />program. Our Neighborhood Enrichment Team has continued to progress while exploring <br />opportunities to improve our effectiveness and efficiency. <br />Discussion/Analysis <br />On February 8, 2000, the police department will present a follow-up workshop on our progress to <br />date. The emphasis will focus on our proposals to improve the procedures that we utilize to <br />address blight and quality -of -life issues within the community. <br />We will present a proposal to streamline our current ordinances into a more useable tool to <br />address issues that are causing blight and leading to the deterioration of our community, and <br />submit for your consideration a proposal to implement an administrative process to improve <br />efficiency and effectiveness while reducing costs. <br />Finally, we will offer for review our vision and provide an opportunity for your input. <br />Alternatives <br />None <br />Financial Impact <br />The implementations of the discussed proposals are not expected to have a direct impact on the <br />current 1999/ 2000 budget. <br />Environmental Impact <br />None <br />Recommendations <br />To be presented in oral report. <br />By: Frank, Police Sergeant <br />
