City Council Meeting of January 18, 2000 <br />Housing Element Update Contract <br />Page 2 <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />1) To not award the contract to The Lightfoot Planning Group. <br />2) To award the contract to one of the five remaining firms that responded to the RFP. <br />3) To re -circulate the RFP for new and/or additional responses. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The cost to the City for this consulting contract will be $67,774. The City approved budget <br />includes and allocation to the Community Development Department for $75,000 to prepare an <br />updated Housing Element. The balance remaining in the budget for a Housing Element Update is <br />$73,406, after advertisement costs for consultant expenses have been deducted. This is sufficient <br />to also pay for the new Historic Preservation Element. <br />Zamora, Qmmu ty Development Director <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the Council award the contract to The Lightfoot Planning Group, in the <br />amount of $67,774, for the preparation of an Updated Housing Element and Historic <br />Preservation Element, and authorize staff to prepare contract documents for City Attorney <br />review and City Manager signature. <br />Report prepared by Lisa R.
