CIRCUIT BREAKER
MAINTENANCE, LOW -VOLTAGE
(I 000V OR LESS)
4'/_ days, 3.6 PCEL s Course 134
Hand -on
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Perform a complete circuit breaker service:
inspection, disassembly, cleaning,
lightening, reassembly, lubrication,
and adjustment
• Test circuit breakers using high -current
test sets
• Read and interpret manufacturers'
trip curves, including the RMS types
• Perform contact resistance and megohm -
meter tests on circuit breakers
Evaluate breaker test results
This intensive maintenance course teaches the
student how, to mechanically service and
electrically test circuit breakers. Learning the
ss by and how of electrical preventive
maintenance of circuit breakers, the participants
will return to their facility with the ability to
perform maintenance and testing of circuit
breakers.
Students benefit from a balance of lecture and
practical work periods where they mechanically
service and electrical]}' test a variety of power
circuit breakers equipped with electromechanical
and solid-state trip devices.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This hands-on maintenance course is a valuable
training experience for the apprentice as well as
experienced maintenance personnel. All
personnel who have the responsibility for
maintaining and testing low -voltage power
circuit breakers should attend.
4 days, 3.6 PCEL's Course 300
Hands-on
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Perform complete mechanical maintenance
on 5- and 15 -kV air and vacuum circuit breakers
• Perform contact resistance tests
• Perform overpotential testing on
medium -voltage circuit breakers
• Perform power factor tests on
medium -voltage circuit breakers
• Evaluate test results
This is an intensive "hands-on" course that
concentrates on air and vacuum medium -
voltage circuit breakers. SF6 breakers of this
voltage class will also be discussed. All aspects
of maintenance and testing of these breakers
are covered.
Students will perform tear -down maintenance,
cleaning, lubrication and adjustments of
metal -dad switchgear. A variety of companies'
test equipment will be used during lab work
periods.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Apprentices and field technicians who have the
responsibility of maintaining and resting
medium -voltage circuit breakers.
