CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 7, 2000 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: AL HOLLIMAN, FINANCE DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF CARPET AND TILE <br />AT THE COLTON PUBLIC LIBRARY TO MIKE'S CUSTOM FLOORING IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $22,269.00. THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED PROJECT <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On February 14 and 21, 2000, the Purchasing Division advertised for sealed bids to remove and replace <br />carpet and tile in the Colton Main Library. Staff also mailed the "Notice Inviting Bids" to ten vendors. On <br />February 17, 2000, a pre-bid conference and walk through was held at the Main Library. Three vendors <br />attended the walk through. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />Bid opening was held at 3:30 p.m., February 24, 2000. Two bids were received and evaluated by the <br />Purchasing Division. The only responsive bid was received from Mike's Custom Flooring with a bid price <br />of $22,269.00. A non-responsive bid was received from Carpet House. Their bid was non-responsive for <br />the following reason(s), Item #1 — Bid Bond was not included, Item #2 — All Bid forms were not returned <br />completely filled out according to Bid Document instructions. <br />Staff is recommending award to Mike's Custom Flooring as the low responsive bidder. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />This project is grant funded.
