CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 6, 2001 Item #1 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR VEHICLES FOR VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS TO VICTOR BUICK IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,047.64 AND CREST CHEVROLET IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,857.99 DATE: OCTOBER 22, 2001 BACKGROUND The City Council approved vehicles for various departments in the FY 01-02 budget. These vehicles include one pick-up truck for the Park Division, two pick-up trucks for the Lighting Landscape Maintenance Dist., two compact pick-up trucks for the Electric Substation and one pick-up truck for the Water Division in the FY 01-02 fiscal year budget. DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS On September 17, 2001, Purchasing solicited sealed bids for these vehicles. The bid opening was held at 3:00 p.m., October 4, 2001, in the Purchasing office. Nine bids were received and evaluated. Attached is a Bid Analysis listing the price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each vehicle. The recommendation is based on the lowest price that meets or exceeds the City's specifications. The vehicles proposed are incompliance with South Coast Air Quality Management District's Rule 1191, "Clean On -Road Light and Medium Duty Public Fleet Vehicles". They meet the California Air Resources Board's certification for "Low Emissions -Vehicles" (LEV) ALTERNATIVES None FINANCIAL IMPACT Council appropriated the funds in the FY 01-02 budget for the Park Division in account number 100-6200-6205-4910, Lighting Landscape Maintenance District in account number 702-6200-6210-4910, Electric Substation in account number 520-8000-8003-4910-0101 and the Water Division in account number 521-8100-8101-4910. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT None RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends award of bid for the one pick-up for the Park Division and two pick-ups for the Lighting Landscape Maintenance District to Victor Buick in the amount of $$51,047.64 and the two compact pick-ups for the Electric Substation and one pick-up for the Water Division to Crest Chevrolet in the amount of $55,857.99.
