Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Increased Appropriations for Cost of Living Increase <br />For Pre -School Contract for Childcare <br />DATE: November 7, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Colton has received a State grant for an additional Pre-school program from the <br />State of California Department of Education for 2001/2002 in the amount of $142,613. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Parks, Recreation and Family Services Department is proposing the expansion of <br />Childcare services to the North Colton area in District Il. The Department of Education has <br />since granted a cost of living increase to the grant in the amount of $5,283. The new <br />budget is $147,896. The entire grant will be applied to this program. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The net financial impact for the City of Colton, and the Pre-school program is positive. The <br />Pre-school revenue account (206-5776) will increase by $5,283. Expense account #206- <br />7200-7203-2301 would increase by 3,283, account #206-7200-7203-2250 would increase <br />by $1,000 and account #206-7200-72032410 would increase by $1,000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution and receipt of a <br />cost of living increase granted to the State funded Pre-school program. <br />REVIEW TEAM_ QNkY <br />City Attorney: , Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: <br />
