CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />Item #9 <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF October 2, 2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Ron Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services 5 <br />SUBJECT: Use of Fleming Park, its Band Shell and the Closure of La Cadena Drive <br />from "O" Street to "D" Street for the Annual Veteran's Day Parade and <br />Program Sunday, November 11, 2001, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />DATE: September 24, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />American Legion Post #155 and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars #6475 are requesting the use of Fleming <br />Park, its Band Shell and the closure of a portion of La Cadena Drive for the City's Annual Veteran's Day <br />Parade and Program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The two groups are requesting the closure of La Cadena Drive from "O" Street to "D" Street. The parade <br />will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 11:00 a.m. The beautiful setting of Fleming Park <br />will provide a great atmosphere for the program. Expected attendance is estimated at several thousand along <br />the parade route with (200) adults & (100) youth expected for the program in the park. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Since the park is maintained by the Parks, Recreation and Family Services Department, there will be a <br />minimal impact on staff hours from General Fund Account No. 100-6200-6205-1050. <br />ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the approval of the American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars use of Fleming <br />Park & Band shell on Sunday, November 11, 2001.
