Item #11
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF, MAY 15, 2001
TO: HON. MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Carolina P. Barrera, City Clerk
SUBJECT: Approve Request for Recruitment, Ratification and Appointment to the
Full-time Position of Deputy City Clerk in the City Clerk's Office
DATE: August 29, 2001
BACKGROUND:
The City Clerk's Office has been impacted due to the recent changes related to the citywide
reorganization. Teresa S. Delgado, Assistant City Clerk, has accepted the position of Human
Resources Manager. Her last day in our department is September 6, 2001.
ANALYSIS/DISCUS SION:
The City Clerk's Office is in full support of the citywide reorganization. The position vacated by
the Assistant City Clerk presented the opportunity for reorganization within the City Clerk's
Office. The functions of the Assistant City Clerk will be distributed among the remaining staff:
City Clerk, Deputy City Clerk, and Office Special II (2). Because of the expertise and experience
level needed within the office it is important that this position of Deputy City Clerk be filled as
soon as possible. The Deputy City Clerk would be authorized to act in the absence of the City
Clerk as directed should the City Clerk be absent. The Assistant City Clerk position will no
longer be budgeted in the City Clerk budget for Fiscal Year 2001-2002.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
FISCAL IMPACT:
All funds have been previously approved with the 2001/2002 budget. Financial impact to the
City Clerk budget for approximately nine months during the current fiscal year represents
savings of $892.00. This represents $623.00 in Account Number 100-6010-6010-1010 for salary
and $269.00 in Account Number 100-6010-6010-1100 for salary related benefits.
