Item #15 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 4.2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Ron Kenny, Parks, Recreation & Family Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Adoption of Childcare State Preschool Contract with the State Department <br />of Education for fiscal year 2001/02 and authorization for City Manager to <br />sign contract documents. <br />DATE: August 27, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Council approved the Parks, Recreation & Family Services to enter into agreement with the <br />State Department of Education to provide state preschool childcare services to the community. This <br />contract is ongoing, but has to be renewed each fiscal year. Historically, the City Manager has been the <br />designated authority to sign all state contracts. <br />DISCUS SION/ANALYSIS: <br />For fiscal year 2001/02 the State Preschool Grant will make services available for approximately 56 <br />preschool -age children from low-income families. The state requires a designated authority to sign on <br />behalf of the City for all childcare contracts. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Last year's grant was $142,613. This year's grant is $142,613. The funds should be placed into account <br />206-5776 (revenue), and should be charged to expenditure account # 206-7200-7203-2304. There is no <br />general fund impact. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve and adopt the attached resolution to enter into agreement <br />No. GPRE-1265 with the Department of Education for Childcare Services.
