Item #16
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 4, 2001
Mayor and
City Attorney
SUBJECT: City Clerk's Attendance and Minutes of Closed Session Meetings
DATE: August 29, 2001
BACKGROUND:
The City Council is authorized, although not required, to designate a clerk or other
employee of the City to keep and enter in a minute a record of topics discussed and
decisions made at all closed session meetings pursuant to California Government Code
section 54957.2.
On May 16, 1995, the City Council adopted a resolution, Resolution No. R-47-95,
requiring the City Clerk to attend and take minutes of closed session meetings of the
City Council.
The Redevelopment Agency, on June 20, 1995, also adopted a resolution, Resolution
No. 664, that requires the City Clerk to attend and take minutes of closed session
meetings of the Agency. An accompanying staff report and resolution repealing
Resolution No. 664 has been provided to the Agency.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The City Attorney's Office has been requested to prepare the attached resolution to
repeal Resolution No. R-47-95.
The proposed resolution would effectively repeal the 1995 resolution that required the
City Clerk to attend and take minutes of all closed session meetings.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Adopt the proposed Resolution thereby repealing Resolution No. R-47-95.
2. Take no action.
