Item #4 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 18, 2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />APPROVAL: Daryl Parrish, City ManagergA <br />FROM: City Attorney <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance Concerning Post -Employment Activities of Former <br />Officials and Employees <br />DATE: September 12, 2001 <br />7_Ta:{c3:T6111â–ºill <br />During the City Council meeting on September 4, 2001, it was suggested that the City <br />Council consider implementing provisions to address the issue of employing or <br />contracting with former City officials or employees. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />In response to this suggestion, the City Attorney has drafted the attached ordinance <br />amending the Colton Municipal Code to establish rules for dealing with former City <br />officials and employees. This ordinance would prohibit former City officials and <br />employees from contracting with the City, either for employment purposes or for the <br />provision of services or supplies, for a period of 2 years after termination of employment <br />or term of office. <br />This ordinance would also prohibit former City officials and employees from appearing <br />before the City Council, any City board or commission, or any City officer or employee, on <br />behalf of any other person or entity, for the purpose of influencing any action or decision <br />for a period of 2 years. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />1. Adopt Ordinance. <br />2. Provide further direction to City staff. <br />3. Take no action. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />
