Item #13 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 18, 2001 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: KATHY KIVLEY, ASS S T TY MANAGER/ACTING PUBLIC <br />WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RE RU E T AN RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF LEAD EQUIPMENT <br />MECHANIC IN THE AUTOMOTIVE DIVISION <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 10, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Automotive Shop currently employs an Equipment Maintenance Manager and four (4) Equipment Mechanics. <br />The position of Lead Equipment Mechanic was proposed and approved through the budget process. Attached is a <br />draft of the job description of the classification; the salary range is $3492 - $4245 per month. The request has been <br />reviewed by the Assistant City Manager and approved by the City Manager. <br />This position is an upgrade from one of the existing Equipment Mechanic positions within the Automotive Shop. The <br />Lead Equipment Mechanic is a working position with supervisory responsibilities over the Equipment Mechanics. <br />This position will assist the Equipment Maintenance Manager in the day-to-day activities (i.e. DOT Inspection, smog <br />certifications, preparation and monitoring department budgets and performing related duties as assigned). <br />Je►T/ IMi1201C121CArf iuI7TiTYVe[.R, <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />All funds have been approved in the 2001/2002 budget. This position is funded as follows: Account No. 605-8700- <br />8700-1010 (Salaries - Miscellaneous) and Account No. 605-8700-8700-1100 (Salary Related Benefits). <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the proposed job classification and salary resolution as recommended <br />by the Assistant City Manager, effective September 19, 2001.
