CITY OFCOLTON Item #15 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 16, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY CO CIL <br />FROM: KATHY KIVLEY, ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGE <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE I <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF MAINTENANCE <br />WORKER I, IN THE PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT, STREET I <br />DIVISION <br />DATE: APRIL 4, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />With the adoption of our two-year budget, Public Services was approved for an additional Maintenance <br />Worker I position in the Fiscal Year 2002/2003 Budget. We are requesting to commence the recruitment <br />of Maintenance Worker 1 to establish an eligibility list, the existing eligibility list expired March 31, <br />2002. Appointment of this position will not be made until after July 1, 2002. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This is a newly approved position, as part of the restructuring The candidate being referred for Council <br />ratification will meet all requirements as specified in the job description. The candidate recommended for <br />the position after July 1, 2002, will be selected from the current Maintenance Worker I eligibility list <br />established through this recruitment process. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period <br />and at the time of the annual performance review, if the employee meets the criteria, they may be <br />reclassified to Maintenance Worker II per Administrative Policy 4.05.340 Series Reclassification. <br />Attached is the job description for the classification; the salary range is $2101 - $2555 per month. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This is an approved general fund position in the Fiscal Year 2002/2003 Budget. This position is funded <br />as follows: Account No. 100-6150-6160-1010 (Salaries Miscellaneous) and Account No. 100-6150-6160- <br />1100 (Salary Related Benefits) <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: NONE <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification for the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Maintenance Worker I in the Public Services, Street Division.
