CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 20, 2002 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: David Michael Davis, City Librarian 00 <br />Item #7 <br />SUBJECT: Approve Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointments to <br />the Part-time Grant Funded Position of Literacy Program Assistant in the Library <br />Department <br />DATE: August 1, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />With grant funding to provide our after-school computerized homework assistance laboratory, <br />there will be two (2) vacant Literacy Program Assistant positions in the Library Department. <br />The salary range for the position of Literacy Program Assistant is $10.51 - $12.77 per hour. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for the position of part-time Literacy Program Assistant will be conducted and an <br />eligibility list established with Council approval. The candidates selected will meet the education <br />and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />There is no cost to the City. Grant funding is available upon City Council's acceptance of a <br />California State Library After -School Homework Assistance Grant to the Colton Public Library. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff requests that Council approve the recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to <br />two part-time grant funded Literacy Program Assistant positions in the Library Department. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: <br />Finance Director: LA -4e b. & <br />OTHER: <br />
