Item #22 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 3, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCII, MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER a� <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION REQUEST TO AWARD OPTIONAL BID ITEM <br />#1 (RELOCATION AND 48" UPSIZE OF TRANSMISSION WATER <br />LINE) FOR THE EDA PROJECT No. 07-01-05132 — <br />CONSTRUCTION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS TO <br />SERVE THE COOLEY RANCH AREA, IN Tf� AMOUNT OF <br />$444,444.00; TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, MATICH <br />CORPORATION, INCREASING T'HE TOTAL AMOUNT OF <br />CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FROM $1,328,328.00 TO <br />$1,772,772.00. <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 21, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On October 1, 2002, the City Council authorized the awazd of construcrion contract for the EDA <br />Project No. 07-01-05132 (Construcrion of Infrastructure Improvements to Serve the Cooley Ranch <br />Area) to the lowest responsible bidder, Matich Corporation, in the amount of $1,328,328.00. T'his <br />amount is the total of the base bid for the project and consisting of various concrete improvements <br />(curb, gutter, AC berm, sidewallc, handicap ramps, and reinforced box culverts), installation of <br />sewer laterals, storm drain manholes and pipelines to connect the proposed storm drain system, and <br />installation of sh�eetlight bases, conduits and lines for electrical lighting system. <br />Included in the Bid Schedule is an Oprional Bid Item #l, which calls for the removal of existing <br />water main and the relocation/installation of a larger water main at a new location. This water main <br />is owned by the City of Riverside. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />There were six (6) Bidders for this Project; the Total Amount Bid for the Base Bid, the Total <br />Amount Bid for the Oprional Bid Item and the combined totals for each of the Bidders aze listed <br />below in order of lowest to highest Bidder: <br />
