Report to City Council regarding <br />Citywide Home Beautification Grant Program <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />programs will enable the City to provide assistance to a minimum of 58 property owners: 33 <br />from the Citywide program and 25 from the Mill Street program. <br />Grants will be available to owner occupied, low -moderate income households and may be used <br />for improvements to the frontage of the home that will enhance the curb appeal or to correct <br />serious code violations or safety/hazardous situations. Eligible improvements include: roof <br />repairs, front yard landscaping/hardscape, exterior house painting, security lighting and other <br />street frontage exterior beautification improvements (i.e. windows, doors, etc) to the property. <br />Grant funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis after the homeowner has applied to and <br />been approved by the Loan Committee for the improvements, received 3 bids for skilled labor <br />(i.e. electrical, roofing, etc.), and the work has been inspected for completion. Depending upon <br />the size of the project and number of trades involved, the homeowner may receive more than one <br />draw. <br />The Citywide Home Beautification Grant will also assist the City in obtaining the goal of <br />assisting 135 low -to -moderate income households during the City's five-year housing element <br />cycle (2000-2005). <br />Financial Impact <br />Funds have been budgeted in account number 100-1000-1120-3890 for the Citywide Home <br />Beautification Grant Program. <br />Recommendation <br />Approve the Citywide Home Beautification Grant Program as presented and direct staff to <br />implement the program. <br />G:\ShareRDA\Meetings\2002 Meetings\RDA City Counciffebruary 5, 2002\Citywide Home Imp Grant.doc <br />
