City of Colton <br />Police Department <br />Rules and Regulations Regarding Taxi Cabs <br />General Regulations <br />It shall be unlawful to operate a taxicab, as defined in the Municipal Code, upon any <br />street within the city without having obtained a permit to do so in accordance witii <br />the provisions of Colton Municipal Code '5.48.030. <br />2. All owner=s permits shall expire on December 31st of each year. At least sixty (6o) <br />days prior to such expiration, an owner may submit an application for renewal by <br />submitting all items required for a new permit. Such renewal application may be <br />approved by the Chief of Police or designee upon showing that the applicant <br />continues to meet all of the requirements of Chapter .5.48 and these rules and <br />regulations. Nothing contained herein shall limit the ability of the Chief of Police <br />or designee to forward such applications to the City Council in accordance with <br />Section 5.48-040 for the processing of new permits. <br />3- (A) Any carrier desiring to operate a taxicab shall file a petition therefore with the <br />city clerk. Such petition shall be dWy verified. Said petition shall set forth the <br />following information: <br />(1) Name, age, and address of the petitioner, if a natural person, or if a <br />corporation, its name, date and place of incorporation, address of its <br />principal place of business, and the names of all of its officers together <br />with their respective residence addresses; or if a partnership, <br />association or unincorporated company, then the names of the <br />partners or persons comprising the partnership, association or <br />company. together with their respective ages and residence addresses; <br />(2) The trade name or style, if any, under which the petitioner proposes <br />to operate; <br />(3) Full information pertaining to the extent, character and natureof the <br />proposed operation; <br />(4) The manner, i.e., on-call twenty-four hours per day, Colton telephone <br />number, proposed rates, etc., in which such proposed operations are <br />to be conducted; <br />(5) The type, model, number, capacity and condition of the vehicles <br />proposed to be operated; <br />RVPL7B\IMB\6272W -2- <br />
