KIVLEY, ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER A. <br />REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FO P ESSI NAL <br />SURVEYING SERVICES AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Engineering Department does not have the staff personnel to meet the license restrictions <br />required by the State of California Land Surveyor's Act, to perform land surveying. It is <br />necessary to procure the services of a Professional Land Surveyor, to perform a variety of <br />surveying functions, including but not limited to stamping and signing Final Parcel Maps and <br />Final Tract Maps, reviewing and signing legal descriptions, establishing and defining right-of- <br />way boundary lines, construction staking for City Projects, and topographic field surveying to <br />resolve drainage issues. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Staff is requesting authorization to solicit for proposals to obtain the services of a Professional <br />Land Surveyor to meet the needs of this Department in providing a variety of Land Surveying <br />functions to the City. The functions were delineated under Background information. <br />It is necessary to appropriate funds in the amount of $20,000 for each fiscal year to provide for <br />this service. Private development reimburses the City through the final map plan check fees <br />collected for surveying services for parcel maps and tract maps. <br />This item was prepared based on input from the City Engineer and staff. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Staff proposes to take the funding for the $20,000 from the Traffic Impact Fee Fund Account <br />No. 249-2970 (Unappropriated Fund Balance) for fiscal years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. Staff <br />desires to increase the appropriations in Account No. 249-6900-6910-2350 (Professional <br />Services). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />There are no environmental impacts associated with this action. <br />e Cf`AY UC u n AT7f►M. <br />Staffs recommends that the City Council <br />1. Authorize staff to proceed to solicit proposals for Professional Land Surveying Services. <br />2.
