$2,603.00. In November, 2001 I was also required by City Works to sign a letter of conditions
requiring me to install a handicap ramp in the corner sidewalk adjacent to my property, and plant
four trees in the right of way adjacent to my property. City Works also informed me verbally that
there is a $60.00 handicap ramp permit fee (my cost to have a contractor install this ramp will be
$1500.00). This "new" fee still has not shown up anywhere in writing. One last fee that I still have
not been quoted is for the permit to tear down, transport, and set up my manufactured home.
Maybe it has been included in the alphabet soup of fees that I have been presented, but if it has
not yet been included; I wander how much more that will cost. Furthermore, I wander if any other
fees will crop up once all the permits are paid and the work is under way.
When I assessed all the information that I was originally given in writing, I expected to pay
approximately $4245.00 in fees (including the School Fees). The actual tally came in at
$10, 928.00, that is a difference to my deficit of $6683.00. Not counting School Fees or
additional contractor work, the difference in fees are as follows:
Building Fees
March, 2001
743.00
Building Fees
November, 2001
743.00
Plan Check
220.00
Plan Check
220.00
Desip Review
330.00
Design Review
330.00
Additional Fees
2663.00
Total
1293.00
Total
3956.00
Mr. Parrish, in all fairness I respectfully request you to encourage the City Council to relieve my
wife and I of the financial burden of the additional fees and the requirement to install a handicap
ramp in the sidewalk. Furthermore I request some assurance that whatever we are ultimately
assessed, it will cover everything that we need to complete our project. My wife and I have
worked very hard to bring our dream of owning our own property to fruition. Our oldest
daughter is developmentally delayed, and at this time I am not working because we cannot get
daycare for her. Accurate information is vital to our finacial survival. We did everything possible
to obtain accurate information, however through no fault of our own we recived inaccurate and
incomplete information. Anything the City Council can do to assist us will greatly be appreciated.
Sincerely Your
SebasDiaz—
STD/std
tian T. Diaz
STD/std
