administration of federally ftmded contracts; it also serves to level the playing field for DBE's when <br />competing for local contracts. A Resolution relating to the adoption of the 2001-2002 DBE <br />Program is attached (see Exhibit "A"), as is a copy of the proposed advertisement required by <br />federal law. <br />The current DBE Goal for the City of Colton 2000-2001 DBE Program for overall minority <br />participation in each type of trade is 13%, with 5% of said goal geared toward female <br />owned/operated businesses. <br />The DBE Goal for 2001-2002 will be modified, as a result of the pending EDA Project 07-01- <br />05132; per EDA requirements, the DBE Goal must be 19% with 6.9% of said goad geared toward <br />Female owned/operated businesses. <br />FINANCIAL/FISCAL IMPACT <br />The City of Colton must approve and adopt the DBE Program each year per federal guidelines; <br />failure to do so will directly impact the use of federal aid funds for any of the current year's Capital <br />Improvement Projects. <br />A Notice (Exhibit "B") relating to the DBE Program shall be published by the City of Colton in <br />both minority and majority local media; the City will accept comments from the public regarding <br />the DBE Program for a period of forty-five (45) days after the Notice is published. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff respectfully recommends that Council adopt the attached 2001-2002 DBE Program goals. <br />Staff respectfully recommends that Council authorize the advertisement of the Public DBE Notice. <br />Attachment: Exhibit "A" Resolution 0 -02 - <br />Exhibit "B" DBE Notice (for advertisement) <br />Report prepared by Dusty Dappen, Engineering Tech U <br />IREVIIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: JQ44wpvxo"� <br />City Manager: <br />Finance Director: W) <br />OTHER: <br />
