1 ORDINANCE NO. 0-07-02 <br />2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA <br />AMENDING SECTION 2.04.020 OF THE COLTON <br />$ MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE OFFICE OF MAYOR <br />PRO TEMPORE <br />! THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />B FOLLOWS: <br />0 SECTION 1. Section 2.04.020, subsection (A) is hereby deleted in its entirety <br />g and is restated to read as follows: <br />9 "2.04.020 Selection of Mayor Pro Tempore <br />10 A. The city council shall select a member of the city council to serve as <br />10 mayor pro tempore by a majority vote of the city council at a regular open meeting. <br />Candidates shall be nominated solely by city council members and the city clerk shall <br />11 record the nominations. All nominations for mayor pro tempore having been made and <br />recorded, the city council shall vote electronically. Commencing January 1, 2003, the <br />12 mayor pro tempore shall serve for a term of one (1) year or until the expiration of his or her <br />1s1 term of city council office, whichever occurs sooner. The mayor pro tempore shall not <br />serve more than two consecutive terms. The city council member serving as mayor pro <br />1A tempore immediately prior to January 1, 2003 shall not be eligible to serve again as mayor <br />pro tempore until January 1, 2004." <br />iB <br />10 SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and <br />cause the same or a summary thereof to be published within fifteen (15) days after <br />Ig adoption in a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in Colton, California, <br />and the Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its enactment with the provisions <br />19 of California law. <br />10 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this day of , 2002. <br />21 <br />ATTEST: <br />22111 CAROLINA P.
