CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF March 19, 2001
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council ,,/
FROM: Al Holliman, Assistant City Managed,#lf
SUBJECT: Consider and Approve Reclassification
DATE: February 26, 2002
Item #13
BACKGROUND:
Reclassification was discussed with the City Council on January 15, 2002 during Closed Session, on the
reclassification of the Principle Planner position to Planning Manager. Itwas found to be appropriate and
approved by the Human Resources Manager and the City Manager based on the documentation presented.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
In an effort to enhance the planning services of City and provide direct "second in command" support for
the Community Development Director, the reclassification of the Principal Planner position to Planning
Manager is highly desirable. Other new duties include greater liaison efforts with the Redevelopment
Agency, more supervisory duties, and greater responsibility for updating the General Plan.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
All funds have been previously approved with the 2001/2002 budget. Funds are budgeted in account
number 100-6300-6301-1010 for salary and account number 100-6300-6301-1100 for salary related
benefits.
ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council approve the proposed reclassification, job description and salary resolution amendment as
recommended by the City Manager, effective March 6, 2002.
PREPARED BY:
Vicki Porter, Executive Assistant
Attachments: 2
TEAM ONLY
Attorney: Finance
Manager: OTHER:
