CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF March 5, 2001 <br />Item #15 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Al Holliman, Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Approve Resolution Electing to be Subject to Public Employees' Medical and <br />Hospital Care Act Only With Respect to Members of a Specific Employee <br />Organization Fixing the Employer's Contribution for Employees and the <br />Employer's Contribution for Annuitants at Different Amounts. <br />DATE: February 27, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On April 1, 2001 the new PERS Health Plan will be in effect and the PERS regulations require that a <br />resolution be adopted by the City Council and filed with the Ca1PERS Health Benefit Services Division <br />(HBSD), which will allow a Non -PERS Elected Official to participate in the Ca1PERS Health program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This resolution form is the approved form designated by the Public Employees' Retirement System. It <br />should be used to assure proper filing with the Public Employees' Retirement System for the combined <br />purpose of: <br />1. Contracting for coverage under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care Act, for one <br />employee organization, and <br />2. Fixing the employer's contribution toward employees' health insurance at one amount and the <br />contribution for the retirees at another amount with the annual increases of at least 5% until the amounts <br />are equal. <br />The proposed resolution pertains only to elected officials who are authorized under existing law to receive <br />retiree benefits. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />No impact <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That City Council approve the PERS Health resolution allowing the new PERS Health benefit to Non - <br />Member Elected Officials.. <br />PREPARED BY: <br />Vicki Porter, Executive Assistant <br />Attachments: 1 <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: " <br />Finance Director:2.
