Item #13 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 26, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, CITY ENGINEER i_ �, AJ. <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE AWARD OF CONTRACT <br />FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICE TO THE 2002 MEASURE I <br />PROJECT. <br />DATE: MARCH 11, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As part of the Annual Measure I Program, a fist of streets was composed that meets the criteria for <br />funding. This list of proposed streets was approved by City Council on January 15, 2002. To prepare <br />plans and specifications for this project to be awarded by June 2002, it is necessary to solicit for <br />Engineering Services for the design. <br />On January 28, 2002 a Request for Proposal was sent out to ten (10) Engineering firms. Staff received <br />response (2) of the ten- (10) firms that were solicited for proposals. Staff has evaluated the submitted <br />proposals and has determined that ACI -Cast Engineering, a local firm best meets the qualifications for <br />this work, in accordance with applicable law. <br />SUMMARY: <br />The firm of AEI-Casc Engineering has submitted a proposal to perform the required design services for <br />$122,016.00. They fully understand our urgency to complete this work, on time, in order to have the <br />construction contract awarded by June. This firm is qualified to provide the necessary manpower and <br />resources to complete this work within this expedited schedule. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />There is no environmental impact generated by this action. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This Project is funded by Measure I Funds and has an approximately $500,000 approved budget funds <br />available for the project expenditures. The design engineering cost will be for an amount not to exceed <br />$125,000 <br />
