Item #14
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For City Council Meeting of March 26, 2002
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: AMER JAHKER, CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2119 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ON THE SIXTH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1960
TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL NO PARKING AREAS
DATE: MARCH 6, 2002
BACKGROUND:
Resolution No. 2119 lists areas subject to traffic controls.
This action will prohibit parking adjacent to an existing mid -block crosswalk at the Colton Middle School.
This crosswalk is located approximately equidistant between Valencia Drive and Topaz Court. The distance
between these intersections is approximately 1400 feet. Without this crosswalk, students would have to
travel approximately 700 feet in either direction to a legal crossing. Restricting parking near the crosswalk
will increase the visibility and the safety of the students using the crossing.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached Resolution, restricting parking along the south side of
Laurel Street to allow a safer passage to and from the school.
Attachments:
Resolution
REVIEW TE L
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager; OTHER:
