Item #20
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For the Council Meeting of May 21, 2002
TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council
FROM: Ron Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services
SUBJECT: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee
Appointment to the Budgeted Full-time Position of
Maintenance Worker III in the Parks/Landscape Lighting &
Maintenance District Division of the Parks, Recreation &
Family Services Department
DATE: May 13, 2002
BACKGROUND:
On March 26, 2002 the City Council approved a recruitment request for a
Maintenance Worker I in the newly created Landscape Lighting and Maintenance
District #2. This recruitment was based on the new District's budget, which
becomes effective July 1, 2002.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
It has since been determined that a need exists for a Maintenance Worker III to
oversee the daily field operation of both District #1 and District #2. The budget
established for the new District would be able to sustain a Maintenance Worker III.
Staff would recommend an in-house recruitment be held. No eligibility list
currently exists for a Maintenance Worker III, in the LLMD.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The salary range for a Maintenance Worker III is $2511 - $3053 per month with
an additional 35% of salary dedicated to benefits. Funding for this position
would come from the Special Revenue Fund and would be divided on a
percentage basis between the two LLMD accounts for Fiscal Year 2002/2003.
District #1, Accounts 702-6200-6210-1010, (salary), and 702-6200-6210-1100,
(salary related benefits), would be charged 80%, while District #2, Accounts 701-
6200-6220-1010, (salary) and 701-6200-6220-1100, (salary related benefits),
would be charged 20% of all costs.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
