Iteen #12 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF (Date) <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br />FROM: Thomas Clarke, Electric Utility Diretor <br />SUBJECT: Request to Establish an Eligibility List for the Position of Meter Reader <br />DATE: August 29, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Utility has the possibility of losing one or two meter readers in the near future. <br />Currently one meter reader is off work due to a non -work related injury. There is a possibility the <br />employee may not return to work. Also one of our readers received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and <br />will be seeking other employment in the near future. <br />DISCUS SION/ANALYSIS: <br />Meter Readers are on a daily meter reading schedule and customers are billed monthly. To maintain <br />the City's monthly billing cycle and expected City revenues, reading schedules must be kept. <br />Having an eligibility list to choose candidates is a timesaver and will expedite the hiring process. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this general fund position in the fiscal year 02/03 budget namely: Account <br />No. 520-8000-8003-1010-0580 Salary and Account No. 520-8000-8003-1100-0926 Related <br />Benefits. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the recruitment and ratification of the employee appointment to the <br />full-time position of Meter Reader as recommended by the Electric Utility Director. <br />Prepared by: Danny De La Hoya, Substation Superintendent <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: �%- �. %� Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: <br />
