Item #19 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 3, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: RANDY RIVERA, PUBLIC SERVICES MANAGER Z <br />SUBJECT: Request for the Recruitment and Ratification of employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Maintenance Worker HI, <br />in the Public Services Department, Street Division, prior to <br />vacancy. <br />DATE: August 21, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Staff would like to prepare for a retirement scheduled for this coming February, by commencing with the <br />recruitment and establish an eligibility list, prior to the vacancy. This position, (Maintenance Worker III), <br />is in our concrete crew and the incumbent is responsible to perform the more technical and complex <br />duties associated with concrete, set, pour and finish concrete for curb, gutters, sidewalks, catch basins, <br />fountains and other improvements including the construction of block walls. This is an approved position <br />in the 2002/2003 budget; the salary range is $2612 - $3175 per month. This request has been reviewed <br />and approved by the City Manager. <br />ANALYSIS /DISCUSSION <br />Early recruitment would enable the department to proceed as scheduled with concrete projects. <br />Recruitment for this position would be conducted and an eligibility list established. The candidate chosen <br />would meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />All funds have been approved in the 2002/2003 budget. This position is funded as follows: <br />Account No. 1000-6150-6160-1010 (Salaries -Miscellaneous) and Account No. 100-6150-6160-1100 <br />(Salary Related Benefits). <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Maintenance Worker III, to be vacated in February, 2003. <br />Att: (1) City Manager Approval <br />
