Rem #7
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 19,2003
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER &
SUBJECT: APPROVED AMENDMENT NO. I TO THE ARCHITECTURAL
DESIGN CONTRACT OF PURKISS ROSE -RSI FOR THE BIG
LEAGUE DREAMS SPORT PARKS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$33,740 AND AMEND SECTION 3.1.2 OF THE CONTRACT
AGREEMENT EXTENDING THE COMPLETION DATE TO
DECEMBER 15,2003.
DATE: AUGUST 11, 2003
On May 7, 2002, the City Council authorized the award of Architectural Design Contract of Big
League Dreams Sport Parks Project to Purkiss Rose -RSI (Architects) in the amount of $381,325.
Upon the issuance of the Notice to Proceed, the Architects proceeded with the project layout (Phase
I) on the original site of the project (Meridian Avenue). But due to environmental issue (Delhi fly),
the proposed project was moved to a new location in Cooley Ranch Area (EDA project site).
Due to the difference in sizes of the original and new location, the Architects prepared a new base
map to fit the new site and meet all the required design safety clearances. Outfield walls were
modified to accommodate the proposed sponsor boards, which were not within the original scope of
the project. Concession building, administration building and batting cages were modified to fit the
new site and a storm drain pump system is being proposed for the drainage system. hi addition, the
Architects have attended numerous meetings requested by City staff to discuss and satisfy the
planning, design and safety required by the City.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The change in location and configuration (new site is smaller than the original) resulted in an
addition to the scope of work as shown in exhibit "A", with a total of $62,790. Since the new site is
smaller than the original location, it resulted in deletion of some improvements as shown in exhibit
"A" totaling $29,050. Purkiss Rose -RSI is requesting an addition to the contract in the amount of
$33,740, bringing the total of Architectural Design contract to $415,065.
