CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT (REVISED) <br />For the Colton Utility Authority Meeting of August 5, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND UTLITY AUTHORITY MEMBERS <br />FROM: ERIC R. FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: Award of FY03-04 and FY04-05 Bio -Solids Hauling Contract to Fleet Transportation Services, <br />LLC in the Amount of $34.25/Ton for class "A" Sludge and $22.25/Ton for class "B" sludge for a <br />total estimated amount yearly amount not to exceed $102,750.00. <br />DATE: August 4. 2003 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The FY03-04 and FY04-05 Wastewater Budgets included funds for the hauling and disposal of bio -solids <br />(wastewater sludge) from the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The existing sludge -hauling contract for the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant expired on June 30, 2002. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />The CUA (Colton Utility Authority) has solicited bids for the FY03-04 sludge -hauling contract for the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant. The bid opening was on August 4, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. in the Corporate Yard <br />Conference Room. Three (3) bids were received and evaluated by the Finance Department and the <br />Water/Wastewater Utility Department. <br />Under the terms of the contract, the City, at the recommendation of the Director of Water and Wastewater, <br />may renew the contract for one additional year (FY04-05). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Sufficient funds are available in the Wastewater Professional Services Account 522-8200-8200-2350 for <br />sludge hauling. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The State of California and County of San Bernardino govern the environmental manner in which bio -solids <br />are disposed.
