Page 2 <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Although the naming of parks, facilities and other park features can be done when honoring <br />individuals who have served the community, other alternatives are available as well. <br />1. A Court of Honor could be established on the Civic Center or Colton Museum grounds. As <br />individuals are honored they would receive a bronze plaque, with their likeness and a brief <br />inscription detailing their accomplishments. <br />2. An Honor Grove of Trees could also be established on the grounds of either the Civic Center or <br />Museum. An individual would have a tree planted in his/her honor with an accompanying <br />plaque listing their accomplishments. <br />3. A tree, with plaque, could be placed in a City park within the District that the honoree lives. <br />4. A Colton Hall of Fame could be developed in the lobby area of the City Hall, Colton Museum <br />or Community Center. As individuals are honored they would receive a bronze plaque, with their <br />likeness and a brief inscription detailing their accomplishments. <br />5. A policy could be developed where by an individual would have a street named or renamed in <br />his/her honor. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The estimated cost of re -lettering the outside of the Community Center in order to re -name the <br />facility is estimated at $2,500. The estimated cost of a tree and/or plaque could range between <br />$300 and $1,000 depending on the type of honor selected. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The Recreation and Parks Commission recommends that the Colton Community Center or its <br />gymnasium be re -named the Frank A.
