Flags attached to poles, including but not limited to flags of the United States, the State of <br />3 California and other countries and states, counties and municipalities, not to exceed three <br />4 (3) flags/poles on properties containing less than 1 acre of land, and not to exceed six (6) <br />5 flags/poles on properties containing more than 1 acre of land. Poles shall not exceed thirty <br />6 (30) feet in height and flags shall not exceed forty-two (42) square feet in surface area. <br />7 Such flags shall be maintained in good condition and free of tattering or tearing. <br />8 <br />9 E. Historical and/or memorial tablets and identification plaques installed by or on behalf of a <br />10 recognized governmental historical agency. The City has a compelling interest in permitting <br />11 such signs to promote interest in historical structures and events and to promote public <br />12 safety and identification. <br />13 <br />14 F. Temporary construction signs not to exceed one in number for each construction site and <br />15 not to exceed thirty-two (32) square feet in commercial and industrial zones, nor six (6) <br />16 square feet in other zones. Such signs shall not be erected prior to the commencement of <br />17 construction or grading and shall be removed before a final release on the construction is <br />18 given by the building official. The City has a compelling interest in such signs to promote <br />19 public safety in and around dangerous construction sites. <br />20 <br />21 G. Permanent window signs not exceeding four (4) square feet per street frontage shall be <br />22 permitted. Such signs should be encouraged to promote business identification, hours of <br />23 operation and address information. <br />24 <br />25 H. Time and temperature signs containing no advertising copy. The City has a compelling <br />26 interest in permitting such signs to promote awareness of local conditions for individuals with <br />27 medical problems. <br />28 <br />-3- <br />
