Item #22 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNG 11, [UUJ <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR VV. <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO THERMAL IMAGER CAMERAS <br />FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ALL STAR FIRE EQUIPMENT, INC. IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $20,203.13 <br />DATE: JUNE 9, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the City of Colton Fire Department a grant through FIRE <br />Act of 2002 (Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program). At the Council meeting of October 15, 2002, the City <br />Council approved the acceptance of this grant and the Fire Department's proposed expenditures. One of the expenditures <br />proposed was to purchase two (2) Thermal Imaging Cameras. These cameras are used by our City Fire Department and <br />by Mutual Aid Fire Engines. <br />DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS <br />On May 21, 2003 the Purchasing Division posted a notice inviting bids for the purchase of two (2) Thermal Imaging <br />Cameras for the Fire Department. The bid opening was held in the Purchasing Office on June 4, 2003.Three (3) bids were <br />received and evaluated. A bid analysis is attached for reference, and the recommended vendor's price is printed in bold. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available for the purchase of two (2) Thermal Imaging Cameras in the Fire Department Capital Equipment <br />account #100-6090-6091-4930. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the City Council award the bid to All Star Fire Equipment, Inc. for the purchase of two (2) Thermal <br />Imaging Cameras in the amount of $20,203.13. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: <br />Report Prepared By: Nicole Mihld, Buyer <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
