Item #11 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 4, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNC EMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER^� <br />SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE / NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR MT. <br />VERNON AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENTS AND LANDSCAPE <br />MEDIANS PROJECT - TERRA -CAL CONSTRUCTION INC. <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Mt. Vernon Avenue Street Improvements and Landscajlv.Medians Project is located between <br />Fairway Drive and La Cadena Avenue. Construction included installation of sidewalk, curb and <br />gutter, stamped concrete, street medians, landscaping, irrigation and lighting. <br />The original contract, in the amount of $698,600.00, was awarded to Terra -Cal Construction, Inc. at <br />the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting of March 26, 2002. Curb and gutter, sidewalk, <br />driveways and handicap ramps were added along both sides of Mt. Vernon Avenue. In addition, <br />streetlights along the west side of Mt. Vernon Avenue were also added as part of the project. A <br />total amount of $290,610.86 was added to the contract as Change Orders. The actual project cost is <br />$989,210.86 (shown on Exhibit "A"). The Original Cost estimate for this project was $1,143,000.00. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The Contractor has completed the work, as specified in the contract and satisfied all requirements. <br />The project commenced on April 25, 2002, and was substantially completed on November 18, <br />2002. The final walk through for the project was conducted on February 13, 2003. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvements are Exempt under Section 15301.(c) (Existing Highways or <br />Streets) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />FINANCIAL/FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Construction of the Mt. Vernon Avenue Street Improvements and Landscape Medians Project is <br />funded by the Redevelopment Agency, Account Number 457-9160-9162-3890. A total of <br />$1,500,000.00 was allocated for design and construction of the Project. <br />
