Item #6 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 18, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE/NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR RICH <br />DAUER PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT — COGLEY AND SON <br />GENERAL CONTRACTOR <br />DATE: MARCH 6, 2003 <br />ISAUKUROUND: <br />The Rich Dauer Park Improvement Project includes construction of concrete sidewalk/walkway <br />and trash enclosure, installation of playground equipment, safety surfacing mat, picnic tables and <br />benches, and installation of handicap accessible restroom fixtures and drinking fountains. <br />The total contract amount of this project is $182,950.00, as approved by the City Council on <br />November 6, 2001. During the course of construction, Change Order 1 & 2 (total amount of <br />$24,624.08) were requested. These Change Orders were presented and approved by the City <br />Council on October 15, 2002, bringing the actual project cost to $207,574.08. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The project commenced on February 11, 2002, and was completed on November 26, 2002. The <br />original completion date was September 16, 2002, but due to Change Orders and delay in the <br />delivery of equipments, time extension of up to November 27, 2002 was granted. <br />The contractor has completed the work as specified in the contract except for some defects and <br />imperfect works that were noted on the "punch list' of the final job walk of the project. All items <br />on the "punch list' have been completed by the contractor except for one piece of warped wood on <br />the roof of playground equipment. <br />The contractor notified the playground equipment manufacturer but delay was encountered in the <br />delivery of the piece of wood that resulted in the delay of filing the Notice of Completion/Final <br />Acceptance for this project. The contractor has a tentative schedule of installation of the <br />replacement on or before March 14, 2003, but if the contractor failed to complete the installation, <br />the City will retain ten percent (10%) of this item and the money will be released upon satisfactory <br />repair of this imperfect work. The total cost of the item (Playground Equipment) is $43,200. <br />
