CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: DILU DEALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR <br />Item #13 <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR PURCHASE OF TWENTY THREE COMPLETE <br />SETS OF FIRE TURNOUTS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ALL <br />STAR FIRE EQUIPMENT, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,227.96. <br />DATE: AUGUST 25, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the City of Colton Fire <br />Department a grant through FIRE Act of 2002 (Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program). <br />At the Council meeting of October 15, 2002, the City Council approved the acceptance of this <br />grant and the Fire Department's proposed expenditures. <br />DISCUSSIO NIANALYSIS: <br />On August 4, 2003, Finance solicited bids for turnouts from three vendors. Bid opening was held <br />on August 25, 2003, in the Finance Office. Three bids were received and evaluated from All Star <br />Fire Equipment, Special T Fire Equipment and L.N. Curtis and Sons. A Bid Analysis is attached <br />for reference. The recommended vendors price is enlarged for your review. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funds are available for the purchase of twenty-three (23) complete sets fire Turnouts in the Fire <br />Department Capital Improvement account #100-6090-6091-4930. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />Exact Business Name: All Star Fire Equipment, Inc.
