CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2003 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: DILU DEALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR Item #13 SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR PURCHASE OF TWENTY THREE COMPLETE SETS OF FIRE TURNOUTS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ALL STAR FIRE EQUIPMENT, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,227.96. DATE: AUGUST 25, 2003 BACKGROUND: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the City of Colton Fire Department a grant through FIRE Act of 2002 (Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program). At the Council meeting of October 15, 2002, the City Council approved the acceptance of this grant and the Fire Department's proposed expenditures. DISCUSSIO NIANALYSIS: On August 4, 2003, Finance solicited bids for turnouts from three vendors. Bid opening was held on August 25, 2003, in the Finance Office. Three bids were received and evaluated from All Star Fire Equipment, Special T Fire Equipment and L.N. Curtis and Sons. A Bid Analysis is attached for reference. The recommended vendors price is enlarged for your review. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds are available for the purchase of twenty-three (23) complete sets fire Turnouts in the Fire Department Capital Improvement account #100-6090-6091-4930.
