CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF December 7, 2004 TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council FROM: Bill Smith, Director of Community Services�i PREPARED BY: Mary Alice Romo, Administrative Assistant Item #9 SUBJECT: Approval of Increased Appropriations for Cost of Living Increases For Latchkey Contract for Early Childhood Education DATE: November 17, 2004 BACKGROUND: The City of Colton's Latchkey program is partially funded by a grant from the State of California Department of Education for FY 2004/2005 in the amount of $423,956. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: The State recently notified the City of a cost of living increase for the existing grant in the amount of $10,217. The Early Childhood Education Division's Latchkey budget, with the new cost of living increase, will now total $434,173. FISCAL IMPACT: The Latchkey program is partially funded by this State grant. The total financial impact due to the cost of living increase is positive. The Latchkey Program's revenue account (206-5768) will increase by $10,217. Expenditure accounts will increase by the corresponding amount of $10,217, with the following distribution. Expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2250 will increase by $2,000 Expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2300 will increase by $1,000 Expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2301 will increase by $2,000 Expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2304 will increase by $2,000 Expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2305 will increase by $3,217 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None CONFLICT OF INTEREST: None RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve a cost of living increase for the Colton Early Childhood Education Latchkey Contract and authorize the City Manager to sign said Contract GLTK-4080.
