CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF December 7, 2004 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Bill Smith, Director of Community Services�,� <br />PREPARED BY: Mary Alice Romo, Administrative Assistant <br />Item #10 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Increased Appropriations for Cost of Living Increases <br />For Pre -School Contract for Early Childhood Education <br />DATE: November 17, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Colton's Pre -School program, located at the Sierra Vista Baptist Church, is funded <br />by a grant from the State of California's Department of Education for FY 2004/2005 in the <br />amount of $150,854. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The State recently notified the City of a cost of living increase for the existing grant in the <br />amount of $3,636. The Early Childhood Education Division's Pre -School budget, with the new <br />cost of living increase, will now total $154,490. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The Pre -School program is funded entirely by the State grant. The total financial impact due to <br />the cost of living increase is positive. The Pre -School program's revenue account (206-5776) <br />will increase by $3,636. Expenditure accounts will increase by the corresponding amount of <br />$3,636, with the following distribution. <br />Expenditure Account 206-7200-7203-2301 will increase by $1,000 <br />Expenditure Account 206-7200-7203-2305 will increase by $1,000 <br />Expenditure Account 206-7200-7203-2304 will increase by $1,636 <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve a cost of living increase for the Colton Early <br />Childhood Education State Pre -School Contract and authorize the City Manager to sign the <br />Cost of Living Contract GPRE-4289. <br />Attachment <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: <br />I�� <br />Finance Director: i 'L b.A,L <br />OTHER: <br />
