CITY OF COLTON Item #16 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 7, 2004 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Kenneth Rulon, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Thirty (30) Day Extension of Current Towing Contracts <br />DATE: November 29, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: <br />The contracts allowing the current towing providers to provide services for the City expired in <br />August 2004. In accordance the City's Municipal Code and the Police Department's Rules and <br />Regulations for Towing Providers. The police department has established a bidding procedure <br />that will result in the selection of the most qualified towing providers. The bidding process has <br />been delayed but it is expected that it will be completed by the end of December. Therefore, it is <br />necessary to extend the term of the contracts of all current towing providers for up to 30 days to <br />give the Department sufficient time to complete the bid process. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not Applicable <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST - Gift Disclosure Requirements: <br />Not Applicable <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve 30 -day extensions of all current towing contracts <br />and authorize the City Attorney's office prepare the necessary contract amendments. <br />Prepared by: Frank Coe, Police Lieutenant <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: <br />Finance Director: pt( <br />OTHER: <br />
