Item #19 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 7, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER C <br />SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE/NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF COLTON MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER FIELD <br />LIGHTING PROJECT — MEI ELECTRIC, INC. <br />DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 23, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On January 20, 2004, the City council authorized the award of contract for the construction of <br />Colton Middle School Soccer Field Lighting Project to MacKenzie Electric, Inc. (MEI Electric, <br />Inc.) in the amount of $366,700. The scope of work for the project included the installation of light <br />poles and foundations, lighting fixtures, conduits, wirings and all the necessary control panel and <br />switchgear. The City of Colton has a Joint Use Agreement with Colton Unified School District to <br />construct improvements to the existing playfields located at Colton Middle School. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The contractor has completed the scope of work as specified in the plans and contract documents. <br />The project commenced on April 23, 2004 and was completed on July 30, 2004. Final illumination <br />test of the project was performed on September 9, 2004. <br />MEI Electric, Inc. completed the construction of the project in the amount of $366,700. This project <br />incurred additional expenses for inspection as part of DSA (Department of State Architect) <br />requirements with the following breakdown: <br />a. Material and Welding Inspection $ 5,325.00 Inland Inspection & Consulting <br />b. Concrete Batch Inspection $ 528.00 Inland Inspection & Consulting <br />c. DSA Approved Site Inspector $ 2,600.00 Prestige Inspection Services <br />d. Soil Foundation Inspection $ 720.00 Global Geo -En ing eering <br />Total $ 9,173.00 <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The Notice of Exemption for this project was filed on December 4, 2001. <br />
