CITY OF COLTON Item #6 AGENDA REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF January 20, 2004 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: Ron Kenny, Community Services Director f. SUBJECT: Approval of Application Resolution for Robe rti-Z'berg-Harris Block Grant Program Funding DATE: January 6, 2004 BACKGROUND: The citizens of the State of California approved the Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000. This important bond measure guaranteed funding throughout the state to enhance parks, recreation and leisure time pursuits. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: City Council originally approved this resolution on September 4, 2001. However, the State of California has notified the City that it has no record of receiving the item. The State has therefore requested that the City again send the item. However, the original resolution stated that the City wished to use the funds to upgrade two specific parks. Because the use of the funding may now change based on the Parks Master Plan, the State suggested that the resolution be sent minus the reference to the two parks. The resolution will allow the State to encumbering the funds for the Robe rti-Z'berg-Harris Grant program in the amount of $137,866. The grant provides funding for park acquisition, restoration, rehabilitation, improvement and development projects. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. FISCAL IMPACT: The City of Colton will receive $137,866 from the Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Grant. The funds are to be placed in account #248-5745 and increase appropriations in account #248-6950-6957-3890.
