Item #10
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF July 20, 2004
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director,
SUBJECT: Use of Fleming Park by United Pentacostal Church of Colton for a
Community Outreach on Saturday, August 28, 2004, 2:00 to 10:00 p.m.
DATE: July 6, 2004
BACKGROUND:
The United Pentacostal Church of Colton has submitted a request to use Fleming Park and its
bandshell for a community outreach and puppet show on Saturday, August 28, 2004. The event
is scheduled to proceed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Fleming Park should provide an excellent venue to host such an event, and has successfully
hosted such events previously. Expected attendance is estimated at approximately 225 people,
including adults, teens and children. A facility reservation application and a supplemental letter of
explanation have been submitted by the group, and a copy of each has been attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The applicant will be charged the standard, resident use fee of $25.00. The City will provide
standard staff support to prepare the facility for the event.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
United Pentacostal Church of Colton
Contact: Ken Lorenz, (909) 424-0204
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the reservation request from the United Pentacostal
Church of Colton, for a community outreach, to be held at Fleming Park on Saturday, August 28,
2004. Staff also recommends that this approval be contingent upon the group providing liability
insurance and a cleaning deposit to protect the City.
Attachments
REVIEW TEAM NLY
City Attorney: Finance Director: -(
City Manager: OTHER:
