The absence of an adequate training tower severely impacts the firefighters training <br />program. <br />The proposed new tower would be built on the same site as the old existing one. The <br />new structure would be constructed with steel members, including exterior panels and <br />flooring. The new structure would be 34' feet high and encompass a footprint of <br />approximately 512 sq. ft., which is 224 sq. ft. greater than the existing tower. <br />Plans and specifications will be produced by the City Engineering Department. Staff will <br />make every effort to ensure that a wide range of potential Bidders are reached by the <br />advertising process. The City will advertise in four (4) local newspapers and in several <br />Plan Houses where Contractors can view Plans, Specifications and Documents. <br />FINANCIAUFISCAL IMPACT <br />The estimated cost to build the replacement training tower is $227,700, including <br />demolition of the existing tower.
