Item #11 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF June 1, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Ron Kenny, Community Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Request Approval of Street Closure for the Annual Immaculate Conception <br />Church Fiesta <br />DATE: May 24, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Immaculate Conception Church of Colton has over the years held a "Fiesta." For this year's event <br />as in the past, they are requesting the closure of Olive Street between 9`h Street and La Cadena Drive. <br />The applicant has met with the City's Special Events Committee as prescribed by City Ordinance. <br />The Committee consists of a representative from the Police, Fire, Public Services, Community <br />Development and Community Services Departments. The Committee is recommending approval. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The Church is requesting the closure of the street on Saturday, June 5, 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on <br />Sunday, June 6, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The City's Public Services Department has agreed to deliver <br />appropriate barricades to the church on Thursday, June 3 for the street closure. Volunteer church staff <br />will supervise the barracades throughout the closure period, providing residents along Olive Street entry <br />and exit to their homes and/or businesses. The City is responsible for collecting the barracades on <br />Monday, June 7. The City would have no other requested obligation during the event. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />There will be no direct fiscal impact to the City. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />City Council approve Immaculate Conception's request to close Olive Street between gch Street and La <br />Cadena Drive Saturday, June 5, 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 <br />p.m. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />Finance otrector: U <br />OTHER: <br />
