CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 15, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: DAVID R. ZAMORA, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO AMEND THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES <br />AGREEMENT WITH WILLDAN TO PROVIDE FOR BUILDING <br />INSPECTION SERVICES ON AN AS -NEEDED BASIS <br />DATE: <br />JUNE 7, 2004 <br />Item #8 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As of January 2003, the Building Division Manager position has been vacant within the Community <br />Development Department. This position is responsible for coverage when one of the building inspectors is <br />absent from work (due to sickness, vacation, jury duty, etc.). Currently, the Building Division has two building <br />inspectors. Since January 2004, the Building Division has averaged approximately 25 requests per day for <br />building inspections. This is a full day's work for two building inspectors, however additional coverage is <br />needed when one of the inspectors is absent because of vacation or has an unexpected leave such as sick <br />leave or jury duty, in order continue providing quality customer service. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Staff is requesting $3,500.00 for professional building inspector services to be utilized on an as -needed basis <br />to assist with building inspection services when our existing full-time building inspectors are off on vacation or <br />other unforeseen circumstances.
